Description:

This work is part of ShouXin’s Black Cat Series, capturing the familiar silhouette of a cat in a deep stretch. Bold, heavily applied graphite strokes reduce the body to its essential shapes and movement, allowing the pose to emerge through only a few broad, expressive marks.
With much of the cat’s form deliberately left undefined, the work shifts between representation and abstraction. The sweeping curve of the raised tail, the firmly planted legs, and the small details of the head are just enough to suggest the cat’s movement, while the rough, concentrated strokes give the composition a striking sense of weight and spontaneity.
